Urban Put-Put Name Change

Bad news, we were contacted by Putt-Putt franchise and we've been informed that we are currently infringing on their trademark. Because of this we're going to have to rebrand ourselves but this won't get in the way of anything else.

Post Polar Bear Update

Urban Put Put wants to thank everyone who's supported us on kickstarter and came out to the Beta Test - Polar Bear Classic we had back on December 1st. The event was awesome for us and from the feed back we got from you guys Urban Put-Put was a success. We had a ton of players come by and play our courses and gave us some great feed back on what we did right and we need to fix.

Some of the feed back we got from the tournament attendees was pretty great.

"Simplicity Belies the Challenge!" - Hole 3
"shelves for beverages at tee boxes would be nice, also some seating"
"Love the bikes and the grass/cement combo" - Hole 12
"One of my favorites, very simple and love the couch!" - Hole 2
"Hole numbers on score sheet"
"Hole needs to be more level, ball always comes back" - Hole 9
"Good hole, need to know your angles" - Hole 7
"Nice Graffiti" - Hole 13
"Needs bumpers on the end" Hole 4
"Love the concept, love the execution, keep up the good work!" - Hole 5
"Was really fun! Thank you!"

100 Backers!!!

Seeing 100 backers this morning has been something I've been waiting for since we put up our Kickstarter 11 days ago.
Knowing that there are 100 people that care about this project enough to back it themselves is really amazing and also reminds us at UPP that it is much more imperative that we don't fudge it up in the days to come. With roughly two weeks until the opening day Polar Bear Tournament we're clocking in extra hours to make sure everything is perfect... Well as perfect as a recycled, urban miniature golf course can be.

As with many of the projects on this site, the drive to donate to a project once it's already reached the stated goal tends to wither away for awhile, but don't let that discourage anyone unsure about donating to this crazy project of ours, the students have been putting an insurmountable amount of time and money into this project from paying for concrete, turf, and crazy stuff like buying junked cars.

We're hoping that by the KS deadline we'll have around $6,000 in donation to reimburse the sculpture class for their costs on this project for the enjoyment of Detroit.

$3000 and Over
The continued support of our community we've surpassed our Kickstarter goal by over $1000. When we originally started this Kickstarter we really low balled the goal, but its tremendous that our community has kept supporting us in our ever thirty goal to make the badest urban course of all time!
We Reached $2000! Plus Concrete Pics
Thanks to everyone's support through kickstarter we've already reached the $2000 in barely over two days. Even though we've reached our base goal on Kickstarter we're constantly striving to exceed expectations and were always looking for more donations to make this course the best that we can, so please tell your friends and family about this project and check out some of the excellent media coverage we got. http://blog.thedetroithub.com/2012/10/26/an-urban-putt-putt-golf-course-in-detroit-its-so-crazy-creative-it-just-might-work/
Kickstarter and Concrete!
Big news today we just started pouring concrete into our courses! And news that's just as big we have even MORE SPONSORS! Both Blight Busters and Brooks Lumber have been generously helping out with our supplies for the build. Another brand new sponsor to the roster was Cyberoptix, they're crazy good at making amazingly designed ties and equally awesome for bucking up for the full spdonsorship.
What? Foundation & Sponsors!
We've put together most of the wooden forms for our course so we're just about ready to start pouring the concrete foundation for our holes. But even more important, WE HAVE TWO SPONSORS!!! Our first two sponsors are Brooklyn Street Grill and Detroit Ready Mix Concrete. We are extremely excited to have the support of these guys who both provide excellent service.
We Dug Up the Yard.
For about three weeks the scuplture crew has been digging up their holes before the cement truck comes along. It won't be long now until we'll be playing putt putt at the Imagination Station. In other good news we snagged some donations for our course!
The Sculpture Class Has Been Busy!
Over the past two weeks our sculpture class has been hard at work collecting supplies and sketching designs for the future Detroit miniature golf course. These are just a few sketches of the intended course designs.
